On the North Shore, the wood that lasts is the wood that dries out between storms. That is why we often suggest composite on the North Shore, or cedar with a good gap under the boards and posts set in concrete, not in wet soil.
Our most recent job here was a house with bare concrete at both doors. We built a brown composite porch at the front and a grey composite deck across the back. The first version of the back deck was not built to the design we had quoted, so we took it apart and rebuilt it, at no cost to the owners.
